Programs 2008
Military assistance program:
This program offers financial assistance to our military personnel who are in need due to deployment, injury or death. This program works hand in hand with our financial literacy program.
Financial Literacy program:
This program teaches financial responsibility and debt free living. This program is very important to our military families to insure financial stability. 56% of enlisted personel report difficulty with family finances, 47% of soldiers say they are in "over their head" with their own expences. (Military family research institute)
We will be teaching classes each year using the renowned Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University materials.
Memorial Flag Posting Program:
This program provides grave site flags placed at the grave of all veterans at two adopted cemeteries. This program gets our youth out to help place the flags and the opportunity to teach the meaning of Memorial Day and the price paid for liberty. The goal of this program is to grow and over the next years be able to adopt all the cemeteries in two states.
Memorial Ride to D.C.:
This program is a ride to Arlington to show the country what our foundation is about and pay respect to the fallen heroes of our country. Together with corporate sponsorship we will travel across the country from Utah to D.C. with stops each day to teach patriotism and promote our foundation culminating with wreath laying ceremonies at 6 monuments in the D.C. area. We will also participate in Rolling Thunders demonstration and the National Parade and this year provide entertainment for Rolling Thunder in the pentagon parking lot prior to the demonstration.
Card Writing Program:
This program offers postcards to the public at the different events throughout the year, Thank You cards December Thru July and Holiday cards August thru November. Our foundation will collect and deliver these cards to our wounded warriors, veterans, and troops serving overseas.
Holiday wreath laying program:
This is a new program for 2008. Our goal is to provide wreaths for every veteran grave at the two cemeteries adopted by our foundation for 2008. We will work closely with local groups to distribute these wreaths. The cost of each wreath is $15.00 and we will use the laying of the wreaths as a teaching opportunity.
Scholarship program: (2,500.00)
This program gives a donation to the 173d airborne brigade association scholarship fund in memory of Sgt. Michael Lehmiller each year. This scholarship is awarded in memory of the 173d comrades that sacrificed their lives for our country. We ask that you take time to reflect about and learn about our heroes and “THE HERD.”
